Już od 20 lat organizacja Mensa skupiająca ludzi o współczynniku inteligencji IQ ponad 130 co roku przyznaje swoje wyróżnienie pięciu grom. Wyniki często są zaskakujące. Nagrodę do tej pory otrzymało wiele gier, które możemy znaleźć na półkach sklepowych w Polsce – Set (1991), Quarto (1993), Magic: The Gathering (1994), 6 bierze (1996), Rush Hour (1997), Zertz (2000), Metro (2001), Dvonn (2002), Blokus (2003), Yinsh (2004), Ingenious (2005), Niagara (2005), Hive (2006), Totem (2008). Wyniki tegoroczne są także zaskakujące.

Spośród tegorocznych zwycięzców najbardziej znaną grą jest Dominion. Wyróżnienie tej bardzo popularnej gry karcianej mile zaskakuje graczy na całym świecie. Nie będę jej szerzej opisywał, bo nie ma takiej potrzeby. Tak samo nie ma potrzeby opisywać innego bardzo dobrze znanego graczom tytułu – Marrakech.

Pozostałe trzy tytuły są mniej znane, więc postaram się je krótko przybliżyć. Cornerstone to nowość, która pojawiła się na ostatnich targach w Essen. Swoim wyglądam kojarzy się z Jengą i Carcassonne. Prosta gra zręczonościowa dla 1-4 osób, w której chodzi o to, aby nasz maly ludzik stanął jak najwyżej.

Stratum to abstrakcyjna gra logiczna dla 2-4 graczy. Plansza ma kształt plastra miodu. Każdy gracz posiada zestaw klocków w postaci czterch połączonych w linii prostej sześciokątów. Najpierw kładziemy je planszy, a gdy już nie będzie miejsca to na następnym poziomie. Jak ten zapełnimy, to na następnym i tak dalej aż do wyczerpania klocków. Wygrywa gracz, którego sześciokątów będzie widocznych najwięcej po ułożeniu wszystkich klocków.

Z największym rozczarowaniem spotkalo się wyróżnienie gry Tic-Tac-Ku. To kolejna wariacja na temat kółko i krzyżyk. Gra się na planszy od sudoku, czyli 9 na 9 pól podzielonych na 9 części, które są osobnymi planszami. Reguły są bardzo proste i można je przeczytać tu. Gra nie ma nawet swojej strony na bgg.

    No właśnie… na co dzień mamy do czynienia z tyloma wariantami popularnych gier, że wariant o i x wśród gier logicznych nie powinien dziwić ;-)
