Preludium, wydanym w 2018 roku jest trzecim dodatkiem do Terraformacji Marsa i pomimo swojego niewielkiego rozmiaru, wprowadza do rozgrywki interesujące zmiany, które dają grającym porządnego „kopa technologicznego” już na początku rozgrywki i nadają jej większego tempa.

W niewielkim pudełku znajdziemy łącznie 48 nowych kart dodatku – 35 kart Preludium, 5 kart korporacji, 7 kart projektów oraz kartę wariantu WT. Za oprawę graficzną, tak jak poprzednio odpowiada Isaac Fryxelius i tak jak poprzednio zrobiła na mnie oszałamiające wrażenie. Grafiki z najwyższej półki – przykuwające wzrok, zróżnicowane i dopracowane w najdrobniejszych szczegółach, trzymają wysoki poziom znany z poprzednich odsłon. Jakość materiału użytego do produkcji kart zauważalnie wzrosła, przez co są wytrzymalsze i mniej podatne na zniszczenie posiadając jednocześnie przyjemną w dotyku teksturę.

O ile karty projektów i korporacji nie będą nam obce i spodziewamy się co, mniej więcej, możemy na nich znaleźć, o tyle te zatytułowane Preludium mogą co najwyżej budzić domysły. Jak to jednak zazwyczaj w życiu bywa – „jeżeli nie wiadomo o co chodzi, to chodzi o pieniądze”. I tym razem również nie jest inaczej. Za sprawą kart Preludium, już na starcie dostajemy potężny zastrzyk gotówki: bezpośrednio – dzięki obniżeniu kosztu pozostałych kart, lub pośrednio – za pomocą zróżnicowanych akcji, jak np. podniesienia produkcji jednego z posiadanych surowców, podniesieniu Współczynnika Terraformacji (WT) bądź umieszczeniu na planszy struktury i zgarnięciu przysługujących za nią bonusów.

Podczas fazy przygotowań, oprócz podstawowych kart i zasobów, gracze otrzymują dodatkowo po 4 karty Preludium, spośród których wybierają 2, a pozostałe odrzucają. Podczas pierwszego pokolenia, gdy korporacje zostają zagrane a projekty opłacone, następuje dodatkowa faza przygotowania, w trakcie której zagrywane są wcześniej wybrane karty Preludium. Działają one jak karty natychmiastowe i pozostają w grze z odkrytymi symbolami. Tylko tyle i aż tyle. Z pozoru niewinnie brzmiąca czynność, która potrafi postawić rozgrywkę na głowie już od początku partii.

W grze pojawia się również nowy symbol znajdujący się na kartach pełniący funkcję jokera. Gdy karta z uniwersalnym symbolem znajduje się na stole, gracz może na potrzeby wykonywanej akcji traktować ten symbol jako dowolny inny. Joker jednak niczego nie aktywuje i nie bierze się go pod uwagę podczas przyznawania nagród.

Ostatnią z nowości jest nowy wariant 1-osobowy, w którym celem gracza nie jest podniesienie pułapu wszystkich 3 Wskaźników Globalnych, lecz podniesienie Współczynnika Terraformacji do poziom 63 w przeciągu 14 pokoleń lub – jeżeli używamy kart Preludium – w przeciągu 12 pokoleń. W ramach nowego wariantu, został wprowadzony też nowy projekt standardowy „gaz buforowy” – kosztująca 16 Megakredytów akcja podnosząca Współczynnik Terraformacji o 1 poziom. Pozostałe zasady trybu dla jednego gracza pozostają bez zmian. Nowy wariant dla jednego gracza może zostać rozegrany z dowolnym posiadanym rozszerzeniem.

Rozgrywka z użyciem kart Preludium może wydawać się nieco niesprawiedliwa i źle zbalansowana, wszak wszystko zależy od tego, jakie karty z dodatku dostaniemy na początku partii i które z nich zdecydujemy się zagrać. Jeżeli jednak spojrzymy szerzej okazuje się, że rozszerzenie nie zawiera kart Preludium, które byłyby wyraźnie lepsze od pozostałych, a karty które w naszym mniemaniu możemy uznać za słabe, dla gracza obok mogą być wymarzonym zestawem startowym. Grunt to dostosować się do sytuacji panującej na stole, podejmować przemyślane decyzje i wyciągać trafne wnioski.

Preludium poszerza dotychczasową, pokaźną już bazę potencjalnych scenariuszy poprowadzenia partii, przez co zawsze czerpałem z rozgrywki maksimum satysfakcji. Jest to nie lada gratka dla osób które cenią sobie nieliniową rozgrywkę i chętnie podejmą rzuconą rękawicę. Dla graczy, którzy nie grali wcześniej w Terraformację Marsa, rozszerzenie może wydawać się nieco za szybkie i chaotyczne, dlatego też polecam najpierw rozegrać partię w podstawkę i odpowiednio stopniować dodatkową zawartość udostępnioną przez twórcę.

Cena 40 zł za jaką możemy nabyć pudełeczko z Preludium, na pierwszy rzut oka może wydawać się nieco za wysoka w stosunku do liczby kart jakie dostajemy, lecz jeżeli uwzględnimy zmiany które wnosi dodatek (m.in. genialne wykonanie i zbalansowanie), okazuje się ona niezbyt wygórowana i adekwatna do treści jaką za nią dostajemy.
