„Nareszcie” – pomyślałem sobie. Po serii lepszych czy gorszych, ale w ogólności raczej lekkich gier, jakie ostatnio przychodziło mi recenzować („CV”, „Ojciec Mateusz”, „Ognisty Podmuch”, „Social Network”) w ręce wpada mi przedstawiciel mojego ulubionego gatunku, czyli ciężkie, złożone euro. Nie będę zmuszony doszukiwać się zalet w króciutkiej rozgrywce czy banalnych zasadach (co oczywiście jest niewątpliwą zaletą gier familijnych), nie będę musiał oceniać gry z czyjegoś punktu widzenia, tylko będę pisał jako ja – geek szukający rozgrywki rozbudowanej i wymagającej.

W najbliższą sobotę, 12 lipca w Gliwicach odbędzie się 4. edycja konwentu PORTALkon. Jest to impreza organizowana dwa razy w roku przez wydawnictwo Portal Games. Jej celem jest prezentacja nowości, zapowiedzi i prototypów gier szykowanych przez wydawnictwo. Uczestnicy imprezy będą mogli pograć w nowości jak Osadników: narodziny Imperium czy Waleczne Pixele, testować prototyp gry Dawn Sector, którą Portal szykuje na 2015 rok, czy wysłuchać prelekcji poświęconej grze Wiedźmin: przygodowa gra planszowa. O dwóch takich, co rysowali Hat-Tricka

Graficzna droga, jaką Hat-Trick przebył od prototypu ku wersji ostatecznej, to fuzja dwóch kompletnie odmiennych wizji: mojej (autora gry) oraz Bartka Fedyczaka (VETO, Wikingowie, Mount Everest). Ja, wielki fan futbolu i taktyki, miałem jasną wizję, jak Hat-Trick ma wyglądać: tabliczki trenerskie, takie ciemnozielone, w barwach szkolnych tablic z minionej epoki, a na tych tabliczkach nabazgrolone kredą schematy taktyczne – strzałki, formacje, uwagi. Gracz ma się poczuć jak prawdziwy trener.

Zewsząd dobiegają mnie głosy, że mundial w Brazylii to najlepszy turniej piłkarski od wielu lat. Nie przepadam za opowieściami babuni o wojnie, po-wojnie i o komunizmie. Pamiętam wystawanie w długaśnych kolejkach po koreański piórnik i tyle wiadomości na temat tego rozdziału w historii naszego kraju mi wystarczy do patriotycznego samozadowolenia. Przystąpiłam więc do gry w Bohaterów Wyklętych bez wczytywania się w fabułę. Ot, dostałam do ręki mały zestaw żołnierzy w nie-ulubionym fioletowym kolorze (się pytam, czemu nie ma czerwonego?), gdzie każdego charakteryzowały dwa współczynniki, jedną kartę celu, która określała, czy jestem dobrym człowiekiem, czy zdrajcą (u nas od razu nazwanym „cylonem”) oraz nakaz bicia się o sukcesy lub porażki w kolejnych misjach.
