Mam wrażenie, że Grzegorz Rejchtman ciągle robi tę samą grę. I nie chodzi mi wcale o kolejne warianty Ubongo. Nowa Gwinea dostarczyła mi podobnych odczuć z rozgrywki, co Papua. Już słuchając zasad wiedziałam z czym będę miała do czynienia. I znów niby było podobnie, a jednak inaczej. Coś tam razem układamy, w czymś tam się ścigamy. Brzmi enigmatycznie, ale każdy kto miał okazję zagrać w oba tytuły z pewnością się ze mną zgodzi. Jednakże, czy danie zaserwowane kolejny raz, ale w trochę inny sposób, ma jeszcze szanse zaspokoić gusta graczy?

Naszym celem będzie zbudowanie nowej wioski w odległej Nowej Gwinei. Oczywiście temat jest zdecydowanie umowny, gdyż dostaniemy pierwszej wody abstrakt, w którym przyjdzie nam rozwiązywać zagadki logiczne na czas. Naturalnie tak, aby lepiej niż inni gracze poradzić sobie z tym wyzwaniem. Zasady nie są trudne, wytłumaczymy je w 3 minuty, nawet tym, co nigdy jeszcze nie grali w żadną współczesną grę bez prądu. No dobra, ale o co tutaj właściwie chodzi ?!

Każdy dobiera na początku rundy planszę zadania ze stosu, a potem rzucamy kostką. Wylosowane zwierze wskazuje nasze pole startowe. Na 3,4 wszyscy zaczynamy budowę, pamiętając o tym, że nie można zakrywać innych zwierząt, poza tym początkowym, wskazanym przez kostkę. Ogólnie to trzeba zakryć wszystkie oczka wodne na planszy. Powinno nam też zależeć na zakrywaniu krzewów owocowych bowiem te dają nam dodatkowe punkty. Istnieje kilka podstawowych reguł dokładania kafli na plansze – wszystkie kafelki mogą się stykać tylko narożnikami; każdy kafelek musi się stykać z przynajmniej jednym kafelkiem; zapomnijcie o stykaniu się krawędziami. 

Za co punktujemy? 1 punkt za każde zakryte źródło wody. Ale, ale! Tylko ten z graczy, który zakończył budowę jako pierwszy otrzymuje bonus za zakryte drzewa owocowe (no instrukcja pozostaje w zakresie nazewnictwa nieprecyzyjna ;) ) Za jedno 1 punkt, za dwa 3 punkty, za trzy 6 punktów itd. Pozostali muszą obejść się smakiem. Powtarzamy całą procedurę 9 razy, aż wyłonimy ostatecznego zwycięzcę! Jeżeli gracie z dzieciakami albo po prostu nie chcecie się wysilać, to możecie zdecydować się na pewne uproszczenia np. zawsze punktować za wszystko lub zmniejszyć liczbę koniecznych do zakrycia wodnych oczek.

Po opisie Nowa Gwinea może wydawać się prosta oraz banalna. Nie będzie zaskoczeniem, jeśli powiem, że wcale tak nie jest. Zagadki nie raz, nie dwa zabiły mi ćwieka. Owszem nie jestem mistrzynią planowania przestrzennego i nigdy nie wygrywam w grze, gdzie takie elementy się pojawiają, ale moi towarzysze stołu wprawieni w takich bojach również miewali problemy. Co więcej, wszystkie zadania można rozwiązać na wiele różnych sposobów, więc wcale nie musicie obawiać się o regrywalność.

A sama rozgrywka bywa niezwykle emocjonująca. W końcu nie tylko musimy rozwiązać logiczną zagadkę, lecz także zdecydować się na sposób jej rozwiązania, co jakby rozumie się samo przez się, ale… jest tu kilka kluczowych decyzji do podjęcia. Czy zmagam się z czasem i lecę, jak najszybciej zupełnie olewając wodne oczka? A może jednak idę w punkty, staranie zakrywając wszystko, co się da? Albo znajduję jakąś drogę środka… U mnie było tak, że zanim podjęłam decyzję często jakiś inny gracz kończył rundę, krzycząc radośnie Gwinea, a ja jedynie mogła obejść się smakiem ;) Prosty myk z niestykaniem się kafelków narożnikami wystarczył do wytrwanego rozgrzania naszych szarych komórek. 

Ponadto Nowa Gwinea jest zdecydowanie mniej losowa niż inne tytuły Grzegorza Rejchtmana. Żadnych punktów zdobywanych w ciemno jak w Papui czy dobierania kryształów w Ubongo. Czyste punkty, czyste zmagania umysłów. Tym, co jednak zdecydowanie nie przypadło mi do gustu była konstrukcja toru punktów zwycięstwa. Może i wygląda ładnie, ale jest kompletnie niepraktyczny! Te kamienie gdzieś się zawijają, skręcają i wielokrotnie kończyło się tak, że nie wiedzieliśmy ile w końcu tych punktów mamy. Niestety owa planszetka jest kompletnie nieczytelna.

Nowa Gwinea to bardzo dobra gra abstrakcyjna, gdzie trudne zagadki logiczne zyskują rumieńce dzięki presji czasu. Proste zasady, dynamiczna rozgrywka, czasami śmiech i zażenowanie swoją niemocą. Idealny filler, dobry przerywnik od cięższych tytułów. Sprawdzi się u każdego miłośnika logicznych zmagań. Cóż mogę więcej powiedzieć – polecam i tyle.

Co znaczy ta ocena według Games Fanatic?
Dobry, solidny produkt. Gra może nie wybitnie oryginalna, ale wciąż zapewnia satysfakcjonującą rozgrywkę. Na pewno warto ją przynajmniej wypróbować. Do ulubionych gier jednak nie będzie należała.
