Nieco ponad rok temu Phil Walter-Harding zyskał moją niebywałą sympatię za sprawą rewelacyjnej gry Kakao. Kolejną grą jego autorstwa, która ukazała się na polskim rynku był nominowany do Spiel des Jahres Imhotep. Całkiem niedawno natomiast gdańskie wydawnictwo Rebel wypuściło na nasz rodzimy rynek trzeci tytuł tego projektanta – małą szybką grę karcianą o nazwie Sushi Go.

Z informacji na gustownym metalowym pudełku, w którym otrzymujemy grę możemy wyczytać, że Sushi Go to tytuł przeznaczony dla od 2 do 5 graczy w wieku od 8 lat, a jedna partia zajmie nam około 15 minut.

Zasady Sushi Go to zlepek dwóch popularnych mechaniki – draftu i set collection. Na początku każdej rundy (a mamy ich trzy) gracze dostają po 7-10 kart, w zależności od liczby osób uczestniczących w zabawie. Po wybraniu jednej przekazujemy pozostałe w lewą stronę. Kiedy wszyscy dokonają wyboru jednocześnie odsłaniamy wybrane karty i dokładamy je do naszego pola gry. Podobnie czynimy z otrzymanymi kartami i tak do momentu jak wszystkie rozdane karty zostaną wyłożone na stole. W tym momencie następuje podliczenie punktów. Te natomiast otrzymujemy za zbierane zestawy. Sposób ich liczenia zależny natomiast od dania jakie zbieramy. I tak futomaki przyniosą punkty graczowi, który uzbierał ich najwięcej, tempura dają 5 punktów za każdą parę, a sashimi 10 za każdą trójkę. Liczba punktów za pierożki gyoza zależy od tego ile ich uzbieramy (np. 1 pierożek to 1 punkt, ale 5 pierożków to już punktów 15). Nigiri mają określoną liczbę punktów bezpośrednio na karcie (od 1 do 3). Są jeszcze karty specjalne. Wasabi można posmarować nigiri dzięki czemu potroi się jego wartość, pudding przyniesie 6 punktów graczowi, który po trzech rundach ma go najwięcej, a minus 6 punktów temu, który uzbierał go najmniej (jest to jedyne karta, która nie wraca do talii po zakończeniu rundy). Ostatnie są pałeczki. Dzięki nim będziemy mogli dobrać z wybranej ręki dwie karty zamiast jednej. W miejsce drugiej dobranej karty wkładamy właśnie pałeczki. Gra toczy się przez trzy rundy, po których zwycięzcą będzie osoba z największą liczbą punktów.

Grafiki w Sushi Go nie są zrobione na poważnie. Wszystkie dania mają swoje buźki z charakterystycznymi wyrazami twarzy. Jedne się do nas uśmiechają, inne puszczają oko, jeszcze inne smacznie (nomen omen) śpią. Ilustracje są proste, ale za to bardzo przyjemne i zachęcają do gry. Największą zaletą wykonania jest z pewnością piękna i kompaktowa puszka, dzięki której bez problemu i obawy upchniemy Sushi Go do większej kieszeni czy podróżnego plecaka. Największą wadą jest z kolei brak notatnika do punktacji, co zmusza nas do przygotowania do rozgrywki kartki papieru i pisaka (a jak wiadomo w podróży lub na biwaku posiadanie takich rzeczy nie jest wcale oczywiste).

Sama rozgrywka w Sushi Go jest natomiast zaskakująco dobra. Zasady są bardzo proste, nie ma też dużo kombinowania. Zazwyczaj na początku rundy decydujemy się, jaki zestaw lub zestawy będziemy zbierać, a później konsekwentnie i w miarę możliwości staramy się zrealizować nasz plan, a jeżeli nam się to uda przed końcem rundy to po prostu wybieramy kolejny cel. W każdym razie trzeba bez zwłoki podejmować decyzje na jakie dania mamy ochotę, bowiem łapanie  w jednej rundzie więcej niż 1-2 srok za ogon najczęściej skończy się dla nas bardzo słabym wynikiem punktowym.

Te proste reguły i wybory powodują, że gra jest niezwykle szybka, dynamiczna i grywalna, a opanowanie mechaniki nie powinno stwarzać problemów nawet osobom, które nigdy wcześniej nie spotkały się z planszówkami.

W Sushi Go może dokuczać czasem losowość, szczególnie w sytuacjach, kiedy nie zostało dobrane w rozdaniu trzecie sashimi, podczas gdy pozostałe dwa leżą przed nami albo w pierwszym ruchu dobraliśmy wasabi, a następnie okazało się, że w grze nie ma żadnego nigiri. Z tego też powodu wolę grać w pełnym gronie niż przy minimalnych liczbach 2-3 graczy, bo po prostu więcej kart jest w obiegu.

Mimo pewnych niedoskonałości Sushi Go jest świetnym fillerkiem, tytułem do pogrania w podróży, na wczasach, w pubie czy przy rodzinnym obiedzie… albo w barze sushi w oczekiwaniu na zamówione danie. Mi ta gra bardzo się spodobała, podobnie zresztą jak większości moich znajomych. Na pewno zostaje w mojej kolekcji. I śmiało mogę stwierdzić, że jest to  jeden z najlepszych fillerów jakie obecnie posiadam.

Co znaczy ta ocena według Games Fanatic?
Bardzo dobry przedstawiciel swojego gatunku, godny polecania. Wady mało znaczące, nie przesłaniające mocno pozytywnego odbioru całości. Gra daje dużo satysfakcji.
