Wsiąść do Pociągu, jedna z najpopularniejszych gier rodzinnych, od czasu wydania w 2004 r. doczekała się już bodaj 8 wersji, 6 kolekcji dodatkowych map i sporej ilości mniejszych lub większych fanowskich dodatków. W jedną z nich – WdP: Europa sam zagrywam się od wielu i, mimo niezliczonej liczby partii, wciąż należy ona do moich ulubionych planszówek. Niestety, większość inkarnacji i dodatkowych map, w które grałem potem (poza rewelacyjną Wielką Brytanią) nie zyskało mojej sympatii na tyle, żeby zagościć na dłużej w domowej kolekcji. Ciągle jednak każde nowe Pociągi powodują szybsze bicie mojego serca i rodzą nadzieję, że tym razem rozgrywka będzie równie ciekawa co na mapach Europy i Zjednoczonego Królestwa. Tak było i w przypadku Wsiąść do Pociągu: Nowy Jork.

Na początku zaznaczmy, że WdP: Nowy Jork to totalna zmiana tła. Na tyle duża, że tytuł dla osób nieznających serii (są takie?) nazwa wyda się zupełnie oderwany od tematu. Nie dobieramy tutaj wagonów i lokomotyw, a karty autobusów (trolejbusów, metra) i taksówek.  Nie budujemy też torów, na których stawiamy wagoniki lecz podróżujemy po Nowym Jorku zaznaczając przebyte trasy małymi samochodzikami. Ja w recenzji będę jednak nazywał dobierany karty kartami wagonów, a stawiane na planszy autka wagonikami.

WdP: NY reklamowane było jako Wsiąść do Pociągu w 15 minut. Żeby osiągnąć taki czas, nie ujmując zbyt ducha rozgrywki twórcy musieli zdecydować się na maksymalne uproszczenie zasad przy zachowaniu ich szkieletu oraz istotne zmniejszenie terenu rozgrywki i liczby dostępnych wagoników.

W dalszym ciągu pozostawiono więc 3 podstawowe akcje – dobór wagoników, budowa trasy, dociąg  biletów. Zrezygnowano natomiast z dworców, tuneli i promów. Zabiegiem przyśpieszającym rozgrywkę było też pozbycie się toru punktacji. Tutaj wszystkie punkty za trasy liczone są dopiero po zakończeniu gry i zapisywane do załączonego notatnika. Tym co jednak najbardziej wpłynęło na czas rozgrywki było zmniejszenie mapy. Obszar Nowego Jorku jest o ponad 2/3 mniejszy od powierzchni Europy. Naturalną konsekwencją tego było również ograniczenie liczby wagoników przypadających na gracza. W WdP: NY każdy posiada jedynie 15 pionków. Do rozgrywki wprowadzono za to dodatkową zasadę punktowania – niektóre miejsca na planszy (głównie w jej centrum) zawierają zabytki, które warto zwiedzić, dlatego też doprowadzenie do nich chociażby jednej naszej trasy powoduje każdorazowo zdobycie dodatkowego punktu.

Wszystkie te elementy sprawiły, że obeznane z serią osoby faktycznie są w stanie zagrać dwu lub trzyosobową partię w około 15 minut. W czterech graczy taki czas jest już jednak mniej realny, nie tylko przez dodatkową osobę  przy stole, ale także i przez ciasnotę na planszy, zmuszające nas nieraz  do dłuższego planowania naszych ruchów.

Zauważyć można również pewne różnice w stylu rozgrywki. Bardzo krótkie odcinki (najdłuższy składa się z 4 pól) i trasy powodują zwiększenie losowości, bo tutaj szczęśliwy dociąg kart pozwala odskoczyć punktowo przeciwnikom, którym po prostu może nie starczyć czasu na to żeby nas dogonić. Brak bonusu za najdłuższą trasę i zminimalizowana mapa  powodują, że partia staje się też bardziej taktyczna. O ile nie jesteśmy do tego zmuszeni nie szukamy alternatywnych ścieżek, a jak najprostszą metodą chcemy zrealizować bilety. Wprowadzenie dodatkowej punktacji za dojazd do określonych miejsc nie stanowi przy tym zbyt mocnej zachęty do zbaczania z najszybszego szlaku.

Całokształt sprawia, że Wsiąść do Pociągu: Nowy Jork jest po prostu bardziej banalny od WdP: Europa, a przez to rozgrywka staje się mniej ciekawa i mniej emocjonująca. Nie jest to jednak tytuł kiepski, bo mimo kilku uproszczeń zachowuje feeling oryginałów. To z kolei sprawia, że w połączeniu z dwoma unikatowymi cechami – krótkim czasem partii i kompaktowym wydaniem, WdP:NY dobrze będzie się sprawiać w dwóch sytuacja – jako gra podróżna i do rozgrywki z młodszymi (6+) graczami, którzy w większości przypadków nie są  w stanie wysiedzieć przy stole pełnej godziny.

Co znaczy ta ocena według Games Fanatic?
Do tej gry mamy konkretne zarzuty. Może być fajna i dawać satysfakcję, ale… ale jest jakieś zasadnicze „ale”. Ostatecznie warto się jej jednak bliżej przyjrzeć, bo ma dużą szansę spodobać się pewnej grupie odbiorców.

    Chyba się starzeję, bo WdP:NY bardziej mi się podobał niż pierwowzór :-D
    No, nie, to nie tak (oczywiście, że się nie starzeję, to tylko nasze dzieci dorastają, my stoimy w miejscu ;)) Prawda jest taka, że ja po prostu nie przepadam za Wsiąść do Pociągu, jak już muszę to zagram, ale partia mi się zawsze strasznie dłuży i mam zwykle poczucie, że jestem gdzieś daleko w tyle za innymi graczami a przez to nie mam motywacji to wysiłku umysłowego, bo nie mam co nadganiać. NY istotnie skracając czas partii po prostu stało się dla mnie zjadliwsze :-D i może to jest trzecia grupa docelowa – Ci, z którymi nie zagrasz w ulubiony Ticket to Ride zagrają z Tobą w New York
