Wydawnictwo Mindclash Games nie wprowadziło jeszcze na rynek wielu tytułów, ale już na tym etapie jest w pewien sposób rozpoznawalne. Mindclash wydaje przez Kickstartera. Pewnie nie snułbym takiej charakterystyki jedynie po dwóch tytułach, jakie Mindclash wcześniej wydał (Trickerion i Anachrony). Ale po trzech czuję się już uprawniony do zanotowania powyższych trendów. A tak się właśnie złożyło, że miałem możliwość zagrania w trzecią grę Mindclash Games, czyli Cerebria: The Inside World. I Cerebria mocno trzyma się szlaków przetartych przez poprzedników.

O czym jest Cerebria? Hmm… to nie tak łatwo powiedzieć. Wcześniej byłem przekonany, że chodzi o procesy, odbywające się w naszym mózgu, przedstawione w sposób nieco metaforyczny – takie „Inside Out/W głowie się nie mieści” na planszy. Jednak lektura instrukcji sprawiła, że nie jestem tego do końca pewien – tekst posuwa się dość daleko w przenośniach i równie dobrze można by uznać, że traktuje o jakichś onirycznych królestwach. Faktem jednak jest, że terminologia będzie kręciła się wokół emocji, intencji i aspiracji, ale mamy też królestwa, granice i duchy. Ogólnie jest dziwnie, ale w tej dziwności w pewien sposób spójnie i sensownie.

Cerebria, zgodnie z tradycją wydawnictwa, robi wrażenie oprawą. I nie chodzi tu o tonę figurek (kilka figurek owszem, jest w wersji KS-owej, ale do mnie takowa nie dotarła), ale przede wszystkim o grafiki na kartach. A te są po prostu niesamowite – każdy, komu prezentowałem grę poświęcał chwilę, żeby po prostu je poprzeglądać i sprawdzić, jak poszczególne emocje zostały odwzorowane za pomocą kreskówkowych stworków. Poza toną kart w wersji „sklepowej” Cerebrii z gadżetów dostaniemy jeszcze plastikowe piramidy, którymi będziemy oznaczać zwycięstwa w poszczególnych punktacjach, i obracający się na trzpieniu środkowy sektor planszy. Jasne, gra jest bogata i swoje waży, ale najbardziej przykuwają uwagę wspomniane fantastyczne ilustracje.

W Cerebrii ścierają się ze sobą siły radości i smutku, błogości i ponuractwa, ogólnie – emocji pozytywnych i negatywnych. Przy czym zasadniczym trybem rozgrywki jest opcja czteroosobowa, w której ścierają się dwie dwuosobowe drużyny. Jest też wariant trzyosobowy: jeden przeciwko dwóm. I dwa warianty dwuosobowe. I tryb solo. Wszak to Mindclash.

Zagrałem póki co tylko jedną partię, dwuosobową w wariancie, w którym każdy kontroluje jednego ducha. Z niektórymi zasadami wersji pełnej, a niektórymi podstawowej. Bo oczywiście do tego też są warianty. Mindclash.

Cerebria to dość wyrafinowane territory control. Walczymy zarówno o kontrolę nad obszarami, jak i granicami pomiędzy nimi – daje to odmienne korzyści. Same przewagi uzyskujemy również dość ciekawie – na pola na planszy wystawiamy karty emocji, które następnie możemy stopniowo wzmacniać. Niektóre pola wpływają tylko na jeden obszar, niektóre i na obszar, i na granicę. Niektóre można odcinać, tak by utraciły swój wpływ. Istotne jest również przemieszczanie własnego ducha, gdyż większość znaczących akcji można przeprowadzić jedynie przy jego obecności w sąsiedztwie docelowego pola.

Jednym z ciekawszych aspektów taktycznych są punktacje i sposób ich uruchamiania. Punktacje dzielą się na publiczne (znamy po kolei wszystkie, jakie wystąpią w czasie gry) i tajne prywatne (znamy tylko własną najbliższą). Każda punktacja to warunek, który musimy spełnić (być w danym kryterium lepszym od przeciwnika, na przykład kontrolować więcej granic). Moment rozstrzygania punktacji jest natomiast całkowicie zależny od graczy – odpala się ona natychmiast po tym, jak gracz wykonując akcję pozyskiwania podstawowego zasobu (siły woli) opróżni całkowicie jedno z jej źródeł. I to manipulowanie momentem punktacji jest absolutnie kluczowe dla osiągnięcia sukcesu.

Wspominałem już, że Cerebria to gra złożona, w której skutki uboczne działań mnożą się na potęgę. Akcje mają swoje ulepszenia (po kilka). Zagrywane karty emocji mają swoje indywidualne efekty. Nawet pobieranie podstawowego zasobu ma inne działanie zależnie od tego, z którego zasobnika go weźmiemy. Potencjalnych działań do podjęcia jest dużo i wciąż wydaje się, że od idealnego zagrania jesteśmy odlegli o to jedno pole, ten jeden kryształek siły woli. A jeśli tego będzie za mało, możemy sobie jeszcze do tego dodać mocniejsze warianty emocji. Albo asymetryczne zdolności specjalne duchów. Albo nawet przed partią samemu stworzyć swoją talię kart emocji.

Ale niekoniecznie będziemy tego potrzebowali, przynajmniej w pierwszych partiach, bo to, co dostajemy w podstawie już ma potencjał, żeby nieźle przeczołgać nasz mózg. Jeśli sprawia nam przyjemność efektywne wykorzystywanie ograniczonych zasobów i żonglowanie mnóstwem drobnych efektów, aspektów i wpływów, to Cerebria pozwoli nam się wykazać.
